William R. Gray III

William (Bill) joined the River City Racquet and Swim Club as the Head Tennis Professional in September 2007 after returning back to the Boise/ Nampa area from Sheridan, Wyoming, where he and his wife, Diana, had spent the previous six years.  Bill has an extensive tennis background and has been teaching tennis for over twenty years.  He is a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) P-1 Certified Tennis Professional and a United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) Associate as well as a United States Racquet Stringing Association (USRSA) certified stringer.  Prior to moving to Wyoming, Bill worked for almost twenty years as a USPTA tennis professional at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club in Boise where he was also a United States Tennis Association NTRP Verifier and the owner and operator of his own business, WRG Strings, which was the only racquet stringing and repair business in the club for over 16 years.  In fact, Bill was one of the only USRSA certified stringers in the country and the first in the state of Idaho.  In addition to these certifications , Bill has also been sponsored by Prince Sports and a member of their Pro Team Advisory Staff for most of the past 20+ years and is also been a member of the Professional Coaches Association and Visiting Tennis Professionals Association since 1995, where, in his free time, he is able to vacation and work as a visiting tennis professional at Sandals and Superclub resorts based in the Caribbean.

Bill left the BRSC to try his hand at selling real estate and to promote the game of tennis in Diana’s hometown of Sheridan.  While there, he continued his passion of teaching tennis and ran private tennis programs and tournaments, including one with the world-class Flying H Polo Club which brought in polo players and their families from all over the world.  Although he thoroughly enjoyed the people and  tennis opportunities in Wyoming, he and Diana truly missed Idaho and knew this is where their true ‘home’ was.

Bill is very excited to be at the River City Racquet and Swim Club and is committed to being an integral part of the tennis community.  When you are interested in individual or group lessons or clinics , are in need of having a racquet restrung or regripped, want to know more about tennis opportunities or equipment, or just desire to talk tennis, Bill is your man.
